In the opening of this vlog, JoJo is driving to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort for a Labor Day weekend staycation. He’ll be with his girlfriend, Mel, who’s meeting him there. It’s JoJo’s first time in the area and as he crosses the bridge to the barrier island where the resort is located, he observes the surroundings and comments, “Seems like a cool area to live in.”

JoJo arrives at the resort and does a quick survey of the lobby before checking in to get his room key. Once in the room, JoJo does a tour of the space and shows his parking lot view. Overall, he’s satisfied, with the room’s style, saying, “I mean, I like the room… very modern.”

Venturing out to explore the resort grounds, JoJo visits the pool area. He comments, “It’s very chill. It’s very calm.” Though the resort is sold out for the holiday week, JoJo observes that it’s not crowded there.

JoJo then turns to what he thinks “will be my favorite part of this beach resort,” the access to the beach. He’s impressed by how close it is, being only a short walk from the main building. Going up to the water, he wants to check if it’s cold. Letting the water splash over his feet, he says, “Oh, it feels nice, everyone.” Happy with the proximity and the warmth of the water, JoJo says he will definitely have to return to the beach the next day.

Returning to the resort, JoJo grabs “a pickle in a pouch” from the Wind & Waves Market.  He explores inside the resort some more, checking out a lounge area where classic cartoons are played and the general store, named “Island Grove Packing Company”. In the store, he shows the routine Disney merchandise they sell plus some Vero Beach specific wear.

JoJo then heads to the below level parking garage, where he meets up with Mel, who has just arrived. The first thing they do is go their room to put on their swimsuits. However, they find out the pool is temporarily closed due to weather, so they grab drinks at the Wind & Waves Bar in the meantime. The pool reopens shortly, but JoJo notes with drink in hand, “This is great. The only thing that we just found out is that you have to be six feet away from water if you have a drink.”

JoJo and Mel quickly finish their drinks so they can get into the pool. They do the pool and then spend time together in the hot tub.

They have dinner reservations at the Wind & Waves Grill, so after changing clothes, they go to the restaurant. JoJo orders the Catch of the Day, which is Potato Crusted Corvina, while Mel opts for the chicken. After enjoying their meals, JoJo shows his nearly cleaned plate and says, “It was really, really good.” Mel gives the place a 9, and JoJo dutifully agrees with her.

Before returning to their room, JoJo and Mel stop by the front desk to pick up a Connect 4 game. They play that in their room and finish their evening watching the movie Thor: Ragnarok together.

The following morning, JoJo and Mel wake up early, around 6:47 AM, to watch the sunrise on the beach. JoJo claims, “I’ve never seen the sunrise before,” which Mel finds hard to believe. (Her and everyone else.) They both end up enjoying the experience, and JoJo concedes, “What a great way to start the morning. Thanks, Mel, for getting me up.”

After the sunrise, they go back to the Wind & Waves Grill for breakfast. Mel is exceedingly happy with her huge Mickey Waffle. They follow that with checking out The Green Cabin Room, a lounge at the resort. JoJo jokingly comments, “I guess there’s some green in here. I crack myself up.”

JoJo attempt to get a late checkout but is not able to due to the resort being fully booked. However, they intend to take advantage of being able to use the amenities for the remainder of the day.

JoJo and Mel go back to the beach, looking for shells and swimming in the ocean. They also go back to the pool and this time JoJo gets to go down the slide. “Yes, sir! I love slides!” he exclaims on the way down. For lunch, they get food at the quick service restaurant, Wind & Waves Market. JoJo likes it, remarking, “All the food this weekend has been A1.”

As their stay comes to an end, JoJo summarizes his thoughts on the resort. He says, “Honestly everyone, my opinion about Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is that it’s really chill, relaxing, and secluded. It’s a hidden gem.” Besides noting that it’s great for families, JoJo recommends visiting before or after a Disney vacation or trip to Orlando.

Reflecting on their experience, both JoJo and Mel agree that their time at the resort was very relaxing. They also agreed that their favorite part of the trip was watching the sunrise together. JoJo admits, “I was a little annoyed that she dragged me out of bed, but like it was definitely worth it.”
