JoJo’s World: Volcano Bay with Mel

In this vlog, JoJo visits Universal Studios’ Volcano Bay water park on a sold-out day. He gains entry using his annual pass, as the park has reached maximum capacity due to summer crowds. Upon arrival, JoJo walks through the water park to greet his friend Nick, who now works at Volcano Bay.

At the cabanas, Nick notes that “sun’s out, good weather, no rain, time to have a good day.” Unfortunately, Nick has to work that day, so JoJo leaves him for the moment to meet up with his companions for the day, the Breaux family: JoJo’s girlfriend Mel, her brother David, and her mother.

JoJo and the Breauxes start their day on the lazy river. Mel checks her TapuTapu wearable, which displays a 195-minute wait for the Krakatau attraction, indicating how crowded the park is. The river is crowded too, but they have a good time floating along, enjoying the good weather until eventually, it begins to rain. “The volcano is mad, look at that water,” JoJo remarks. The group finds temporary shelter as they float into a cave that the river runs through. It’s still raining as they float out of the cave, but they keep going. “It doesn’t stop,” JoJo yells.

The sun is back by the time they leave the water. They take advantage of a short 10 minute wait to do their next ride, the slide at Taniwha Tubes. After that, they jump into the rapids, TeAwa The Fearless River, which JoJo says is his favorite thing at Volcano Bay, liking it more than the lazy river.

The rapids:

“This ride never disappoints. If you’re ever looking for something to do in Volcano Bay when the lines are a little bit longer, go on this. I love it. It’s the best thing in the world.”

After the rapids, JoJo and the Breaux family head to the cabana area where Nick works. Nick, using his employee access, helps the group bypass the long food lines. “Nick made a little magic for us, hooked it up with some drinks and food,” JoJo explains, appreciating his friend’s assistance. The group then settles at a seating area, where they enjoy pizza, chicken, and specialty drinks. They manage to find a table despite the crowded park conditions.

Following their meal, JoJo and his friends go into a pool to watch people doing a plunge drop and then they make their way to the Krakatau Aqua Coaster. Mel’s original 195 minute wait is apparently up. JoJo observes, “It’s been the whole day basically.” JoJo appreciates though that once they scanned in, the actual line from that point was short.

Next, they’re ready to do the Ko’okiri Body Plunge. JoJo and Mel go first and then at the bottom of the slide JoJo records David’s descent. As David emerges from the water, JoJo asks, “How do you feel?” David responds, “I had my eyes closed the whole time, bro.” Describing the experience, he says, “There was like misty water and I was like… and then it kept going for like forever.” JoJo encourages others to try the ride, stating, “Definitely do it if you’re here though. It’s a little scary but you’ll be glad that you did it.”

As the day winds down, JoJo and his companions take advantage of shorter wait times around 7 PM to experience the Honu and ika Moana slides. JoJo observes, “Near the end of the day, the slides definitely tend to get a little less crowded.” After these final attractions, the group prepares to leave the park, and they see a rainbow behind the volcano. “To end our day, there’s a rainbow over the volcano. It’s really pretty,” JoJo remarks. Reflecting on their experience, JoJo concludes, “It’s been a wonderful day here at Volcano Bay, even though it was at max capacity. We still had fun.”

[4/5] It’s an uneventful day at Volcano Bay, but the vlog does present well the experiences at the water park. Also, JoJo introduces his girlfriend’s family to the vlog, indicating how close he’s gotten to Mel so quickly.
